Messages and errors

This page explains what a message of the app means and what you can do if something looks different than expected.

Messages of the app

Most messages appear as a bar at the bottom of the screen and disappear on their own after a short time.

Sync and sign-in

Message

Meaning

What to do

“Loading your data…” (header “Loading…”)

After sign-in, the app fetches the first set of data.

Wait.

“Unable to refresh.” with Retry

The app could not reach the server. The list shows the stored data; you can keep working.

With network, tap Retry or swipe down in the list.

“Synchronized”

After you tap the sync counter: everything pending has reached the server.

Nothing.

“Synchronization failed”

After you tap the sync counter: at least one change has not arrived. The app names the cause, for example “Waiting for network”, “Rejected by the server” or “Session expired — please sign in again”.

If there is no network, tap it again later. If something was rejected, look at the place concerned (see below).

The sign-in screen appears in the middle of your work

Your sign-in has expired. Your data not yet transferred stays on the device.

Sign in again. The next sync transfers the reports left behind.

“Invalid credentials”

Username or password is wrong.

Clear both fields and enter them again.

Sign out is grayed out

No network. Signing out only works online.

Connect to the internet.

Reporting time

Message

Meaning

What to do

“Date is outside the task period”

The day you created lies before the start or after the end of the task. You may still report; such a time is never confirmed automatically, though.

Check the date. If it is correct, report as usual.

“Over plan — adjust remaining effort / note?” with Adjust

You are reporting more time than was planned.

Tap Adjust and add remaining effort and note, see Report remaining effort and a note.

“No employees you are authorized to record time for.”

You are not allowed to report for anyone on this task.

If needed, ask your administration, see Permissions and what they hide.

Row in red as “Report rejected”

The server has permanently rejected the report; the bar at the bottom gives the reason. The app does not try again.

Read the reason, correct the time if needed and report it again.

“Task was removed on the server”

The task was deleted on the server before your report arrived.

Clarify with the project lead.

Approving time

Message

Meaning

What to do

“Released — will be sent when back online.”

You approved without network. The approval applies on the device right away and waits in the queue.

Nothing. The app transfers it on its own as soon as there is network.

“N of M entries released.”

Only some of the approvals have arrived.

The others can still be approved; approve them again.

“Confirmation failed: …”

The server has rejected the approval; its reason follows the colon.

Read the reason.

Photos and documents

Message

Meaning

What to do

“Photo is still downloading.”

The file is not on the device yet.

Wait a moment, then tap again.

“Photo could not be saved…”

The photo did not reach the app from the camera.

Take the photo again.

Warning triangle on the entry

Uploading or downloading has failed permanently. The server’s message appeared once as a short notice, for example “Unsupported file type”.

For an upload: changing the description or Replace starts a new attempt. For a download: swipe down in the list.

Vacation

Message

Meaning

What to do

“Failed” in red with “Rejected by server: …”

The server has permanently rejected the request or the cancellation, for example because the request overlaps an existing one. The entry no longer counts in the sync counter.

Read the reason. Swipe the entry away and request again if needed.

“Start date is after the end date.”, “Start date is in the past.”, “Overlaps an existing request.”

The request is not possible like this; SAVE stays disabled.

Change the period.

“1 colleague is on vacation in this period.”

Just a notice; you can still save.

As needed.

Typical errors

Likely cause

What to do

The sign-in hangs or runs into a timeout.

Wrong server address or no internet.

Check the server line on the sign-in screen and the network.

A task is missing from the task list.

A different period, a filter is switched on or the task is completed.

Check the date range; the clock and tick icons in the top bar must be white; choose the All view; show Completed.

The card has no blue column.

You do not have the permission to view documents.

Not an error. If needed, ask your administration.

No circle-with-tick icon in the top bar.

You do not have the permission to approve time.

Not an error.

A shift cannot be changed and carries two ticks ✓✓.

It is confirmed and therefore locked.

Correction through supervisors on the web, see The path of a report.

A day cannot be reported again.

The day is confirmed.

As above.

The remaining effort cannot be sent.

You raised it above the calculated remainder but did not enter a note.

Enter a note; it is required when you raise the effort.

The sync counter does not go down to 0.

No network, or something was rejected permanently.

Look for red rows “Failed” or “Report rejected” and for the warning triangle in the document lists; otherwise tap the counter again when you have network.

A photo stays at the clock or at the down arrow ⬇.

It has not been transferred or not been downloaded yet.

With network, open the document list or swipe down.

The column with the open approvals on the plan board stays empty.

The app does not know the reports of this week yet.

In the task list, page to the week in question, then open the plan board.

The approval view only opens as a narrow strip or closes again right after opening.

This is an error in the app.

Note the device, orientation, task and time, take a screenshot and pass it on to your administration.
